What we can promise — and what we can’t
What we promise
- Every tip is read by the editor, usually within 24 hours.
- We never publish your name, role, or identifying details without your prior consent.
- Your tip alone never publishes. We corroborate independently — two of three sources — or we hold.
- Before publication, we tell you what is running and how you are described.
- If we are served legal process about a source, we tell you and we fight it.
What we can’t promise
- We are not your lawyers. Talking to us is not legally privileged the way talking to your own attorney is.
- We cannot promise absolute anonymity. Email leaves traces on both ends; act accordingly.
- Protect yourself first: use a personal device and a personal account — never your work computer, work phone, or employer network.
- If your situation is high-risk, say so in your first message and send no documents until we’ve talked about how.
